Intercity Bus & Rail Service

The RPC region benefits from an excellent network of publicly subsidized intercity bus and rail services. These include:

• Boston Express bus service connecting Concord, Manchester, Londonderry, Salem and Boston in the I93 corridor.
• C&J bus service connecting Dover, Portsmouth, Newburyport, Boston and New York City in the I95 corridor.
• Amtrak Downeaster rail service between Portland and Boston, with New Hampshire station stops in Dover, Durham and Exeter.

RPC staff play a more limited assistance role with intercity service than with the region’s public transit providers. Staff provide assistance to the Exeter Downeaster Station Committee, and have assisted each of the intercity providers with demographic analysis related to Federal Transit Administration (FTA) reporting requirements.
