The individual in this position will serve as a key member of the team conducting short and long-range transportation planning for the MPO region. The ideal candidate will have a background in transportation planning as well as experience working with municipal and agency officials, boards, and staff. The Transportation Planner will be involved in many aspects of the RPC’s transportation planning program including development and maintenance of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Long Range Transportation Plan, project and performance monitoring, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, resilience planning, public engagement, as well as providing technical assistance to communities and partner agencies. Additionally, the transportation planner may work with other RPC staff on related land use, economic development, and environmental planning projects.
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban planning or a related discipline and one to five years of relevant professional work experience; OR any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary, and attendance at evening meetings is required. Applicants must have superior presentation and written communication skills. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position. Salary range $50,000 - $65,000; starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position is open until filled with flexibility on starting date.
